ferrous sulphate

8.2 mg per capsule

Metallic, like ink or blood”

Certified beer flavour standard used to train professional beer tasters to recognize and scale the intensity of metallic character. Metallic flavours are often taints derived from contamination of beer with metal ions. They can sometimes arise as off-flavours due to lipid oxidation during beer ageing.

Remarks
Copper, manganese and tin can also generate metallic notes in beer. Such metals stabilize beer foam, giving rise to an improved foam appearance. They also shorten beer flavour life by catalysing oxidation of beer..
